Key point

An empty month means no record, not no events. In any time series, treat those zeros as missing rather than as quiet months.

Formula: (reign months − months with articles) / reign months; reign months = calendar months touched by the span (lunar incl. leap to Dec 1895, solar from Jan 1896), months with articles = distinct (year, month, leap) of article dates (solar months after 1896).
How to read it: Near zero for most editions. Where values are higher, it has to be checked which cause applies — lost records, sparse compilation or the way the reign span is estimated (all hypotheses).
Caveats: Reign months are counted between the first and last dated article.
