Repertoire age
How long the composers whose music is played have been dead — the median, weighted by work performances (new in 1.1).
- Formula
- per work performance (season start year − composer's death year), 0 for living composers; weighted median over performances with known dates (the first value at which the cumulative weight reaches half).
- How to read it
- 15 years in 1842–43, 36 in 1922–23, 61 in 1962–63, 83 in 1982–83, 76 in 2025–26. The highest decade median is 96 years in the 2010s.
- Caveats
- Uses the composer's death year, not the work's date (work dates are largely missing in open data). Composers without dates drop out, which may push recent values up. Read with the living-composer share.

Wikidata (Wikimedia Foundation) person items: year of birth (P569) and death (P570). Composers with at least 10 NY Phil performances (U1) were searched by name; only human items with a music occupation were kept and checked against the composer's first season (born at least five years earlier). Names with several candidates or a failed check were resolved one by one by the editor. The matching table (composer_wikidata.csv) is published. https://www.wikidata.org/ · License: CC0 1.0
