Share of performances that use the soft (left, una corda) pedal at least once (new in 1.4).
Formula
recordings with CC67 ≥ 64 at any moment / recordings (pieces cut from one recording count once). 95% Wilson score interval. For performances that use it, the share of time it is down is also given.
How to read it
Bach 41.8% (41 of 98; 95% interval 32.6–51.7%), Beethoven 92.3% (228 of 247; 88.3–95.0%), Mozart 85.7% (12 of 14; 60.1–96.0%). In recordings that use it, the median share of time down is 0.11 (Bach), 0.39 (Beethoven) and 0.34 (Mozart).
Caveats
Same limits as the damper share (e-Competition recordings, the 64 threshold, pieces cut from longer recordings). 'At least once' counts a brief touch as use. Mozart has only 6 pieces and 14 recordings.
Bars: share of performances using the soft pedal. The 95% intervals are in the table (Mozart has 16 performances, so its interval is wide).

ASAP dataset (Foscarin et al., ISMIR 2020). Piano MIDI performances aligned beat-by-beat to scores: 169 Bach (Well-Tempered Clavier) and 271 Beethoven (sonatas); 169 and 259 of these have beat counts matching the score and only those are used. Version 1.1 adds Mozart: 6 movements (K.310/i, K.331/iii, K.332 complete, Fantasia K.475), 16 performances — one to five per piece, so they appear in tables but not in comparison charts. Performances come from MAESTRO (International Piano-e-Competition). https://github.com/fosfrancesco/asap-dataset · License: CC BY-NC-SA 4.0
